Massimo Zanetti

Massimo Zanetti (* 1962 in Milan , Italy ) is an Italian opera conductor .

Life

Zanetti studied in Milan at the “ Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory ” and won several international prizes between 1991 and 1996, including at the “Forum for Young Artists” in Vienna and at the “International Donatella Flick Conducting Competition” in London . In 1998 he was voted “Best Young Conductor of the Year” by the specialist magazine “Opernwelt” and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ). At that time he was Kapellmeister at the Theater am Goetheplatz in Bremen (1996–1999).

He then was chief conductor at the Flemish Opera Antwerp / Ghent from 1999 to 2002 . From there he began his international career. In 2000 he made his debut at the Semperoper in Dresden and in 2002 at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin .

Zanetti later conducted at La Scala in Milan , the Royal Opera House Covent Garden , the Maggio Musicale in Florence , Teatro dell'Opera di Roma , Teatro Reggio in Turin , Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa , at the Hamburg State Opera and at the Royal Opera in Copenhagen . In 2003 he made his Japan debut with the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo , and in summer 2007 he worked at the National Theater in Munich .
