Matías Alonso , full name Matías Damián Alonso Vallejo , (born April 16, 1985 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.78-meter-tall offensive player Alonso is the brother of professional soccer player Iván Alonso and cousin of the former kickers Diego Alonso , who also plays for the UNAM Pumas . He stood at the beginning of his career from the Apertura 2003 and the Apertura 2005 Squad from River Plate Montevideo . This was followed by a position at Club Atlético Peñarol in the 2006 Clausura . In the 2006/07 season, depending on the sources, he completed 32 or 33 games in the Spanish Segunda División B for the B team from Celta de Vigo and scored seven goals. He made his debut on August 27, 2006 in the 4-0 away defeat against Lugo, when he was substituted on for Adrián Quintairos in the 46th minute of the game . 37 times - first on August 25, 2007 against Espanyol B, the last time on May 18, 2008 against Orihuela CF - he played in that league in the following season 2007/08 for SE Eivissa-Ibiza . Playing in Uruguay's Primera División again in the 2012/13 season , he was Juventud's most successful goalscorer with eleven goals in 15 top division games . He left the Las Piedras club in early September 2013 in favor of the Italian club AS Bari , where he played seven times (no goal) in Serie A by the end of the year . Since the beginning of 2014 he played for Defensor Sporting . In the Clausura 2014 he played in nine games (three goals) of the Primera División. He also played in eleven games of the 2014 Copa Libertadores , scored one goal and reached the semi-finals with the club. In the 2014/15 season he was used 15 times (three goals) in the top Uruguayan league. In August 2015, he moved again to Juventud. There he played 14 league games (four goals) and three games (no goal) in the 2015 Copa Sudamericana in Apertura 2015 . He joined The Strongest in January 2016 . So far (as of February 9, 2017) he has played for the Bolivians in 41 top division games (nine goals), six games (two goals) of the Copa Libertadores 2016 and two games (three goals) of the Copa Libertadores 2017 .

National team

Alonso was also a member of the Uruguayan U-20 selection . In 2005 he was a member of the squad that took part in the 2005 U-20 South American Championship in Colombia .
