Matías Jones , full name Matías Martín Jones Mourigiain , (born July 1, 1991 in Cerro Chato ) is a Uruguayan football player .

The 1.75-meter-tall offensive player Jones was at the beginning of his career at least since the Apertura 2009 in the squad of the Uruguayan first division club Danubio . In the 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons he played a total of eleven games in the Primera División and scored one goal. In July 2011 he moved to the Netherlands for FC Groningen . There he was in the 2011/12 season twelve times in the Eredivisie used and scored a goal. After he did not receive any further playing time in the following season, he was awarded to FC Emmen in early 2013 . In the second half of the season he completed nine games in the Eerste Divisie . He couldn't score a goal. In mid-2013, he returned to Groningen after the loan expired. In August 2013, however, another loan deal with Defensor Sporting followed . There he was under contract in the 2013/14 season. For the Montevideans, he completed ten league games and scored two goals. In the Copa Libertadores 2014 , in which his club advanced to the semi-finals, he received no minutes. At the beginning of August 2014, his move to the Colombian capital Bogotá to La Equidad was announced. With the Colombians he was used in seven league games (no goal) and three times (one goal) in the Copa Colombia . Beginning in January 2015, he moved to Argentina to San Martín de San Juan . There he played a game (no goal) in the Primera División . Since the end of January 2016, he has continued his career at River Plate Montevideo , where he has so far (as of February 11, 2017) has been used 19 times in the league across all seasons and has scored three goals. He also played a game (no goal) for the Montevideans in the Copa Libertadores 2016 .

Jones took part with the Uruguayan U-20 selection at the U-20 South American Championship 2011 in Peru . During the tournament he was used five times (no goal).
