Mathew Cheriankunnel PIME (born September 20, 1930 in Kadayanicad ) is former bishop of Kurnool .

Life

Mathew Cheriankunnel joined the religious order of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions and was ordained a priest on April 28, 1962 . Paul VI appointed him on May 31, 1976 Bishop of Nalgonda .

The secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy , ordained him episcopal on May 3rd of the following year ; Co- consecrators were Joseph S. Thumma , Bishop of Vijayawada , and Alphonsus Beretta PIME, Bishop of Warangal .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Coadjutor Bishop of Kurnool on December 22, 1986 . After Joseph Rajappa's appointment as Bishop of Khammam , he succeeded him on January 18, 1988 as Bishop of Kurnool. He resigned from his office on July 16, 1991.
