Mats Björke (Mando Diao)

Mats Anders Björke (born June 10, 1982 in Falun , Sweden) was the keyboard player of the Swedish rock band Mando Diao .

biography

Mats Anders Björke was born on June 10, 1982 in Falun. In 2002 he moved to Stockholm to start studying music and played in various bands on the side. In spring 2003 he finished his musical training and did not consider moving to another training location. When he found out that Mando Diao were looking for a new keyboardist after Daniel Haglund left , he applied immediately. He got the post two months later. Björke and Gustaf Norén knew each other from childhood - they grew up together and attended the same school class, even lived on the same street. Gustaf Norén himself describes it as "stupid not to have thought of him straight away".

At the beginning Mats Björke was not an official member of the band; For a short time it was even publicly announced that the collaboration with four people (Gustaf Norén, Björn Dixgård , Carl-Johan Fogelklou , Samuel Giers ) worked much better. But through the many tours together, the five grew together, and in 2004 Mats became an official member of the band.

The tour through Sweden was soon followed by appearances at European festivals, in the USA and Japan. Each album was a bigger success than the previous one.

When MTV Unplugged - Above and Beyond in September 2011 Björke was also seen on the guitar.

The band achieved their greatest success in their home country Sweden in 2012 with the album Infruset , the setting of ten poems by the Swedish poet Gustaf Fröding .

Mats Björke also works as a producer for the Swedish indie rock band Caviare Days.

In November 2014 Björke Mando left Diao to pursue other activities in music.
