Matthew "Matt" Cohen (born November 8, 1985 in New York City , New York ) is a former American ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with the Fife Flyers in the British Elite Ice Hockey League .

Career

Matt Cohen began his career as a hockey player in the USA Hockey National Team Development Program , for which he was active from 2001 to 2003 in the junior division of the North American Hockey League . He then attended Yale University for four years , for whose team he played in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . Towards the end of the 2006/07 season, the defender made his professional ice hockey debut for the Trenton Titans in the ECHL . In the following three years he was parallel for the Trenton Devils, as the Titans were called from 2007, in the ECHL and for their cooperation partner Lowell Devils in the American Hockey League on the ice.

In the 2010/11 season Cohen played with the Hamburg Freezers from the German Ice Hockey League , where he did not receive a new contract after the season. The following year he ran for the Fife Flyers in the British Elite Ice Hockey League , but ended his active career in the summer of 2012 due to protracted injury problems in the pelvic area.

International

For the USA Cohen took part in the U18 World Junior Championship in 2003 .
