Matthew "Matt" Duke (born June 16, 1977 in Sheffield ) is an English football player in the position of goalkeeper .

Career

Duke began his professional career at Sheffield United, the local football club, for which he did not play a single competitive game, after which he was loaned to Bury FC , but could not prevail there either, whereupon he left Sheffield United for Burton Albion . There he quickly matured to become a regular player and played 78 games. 2004 signed Hull City Duke as a substitute for Boaz Myhill . According to the club, the transfer fee was £ 20,000, which can rise to a total of £ 60,000 depending on the number of stakes. To get more game practice, Duke was loaned to Stockport County and the Wycombe Wanderers for one month each in the 2005/06 season.

From 2011 to 2013 he played for the fourth division Bradford City , with whom he sensationally reached the final of the League Cup against Swansea City at London's Wembley Stadium . In the 56th minute of the game he was sent off when the score was 0: 3 (final score: 0: 5).

In June 2013 Duke signed a two-year deal with Northampton Town . After his contract expired, he returned to his home club Alfreton Town in the sixth class National League North in 2015.

  • On January 5, 2008, Duke underwent surgery to remove a tumor. He celebrated his comeback after the operation on March 29 in a 3-0 win against Watford FC .
  • On June 1, 2008, Duke took part in Keep Your Eye On The Ball . 'Keep Your Eye On The Ball' is a five-kilometer run through London that anyone can take part in; the money raised is then donated to a charity.
