Matt Terwilliger (born September 7, 1985 in Troy , Ohio ) is a retired American basketball player . After completing his studies, he played for three years in the German basketball league for the Westphalia- based clubs from Paderborn and Hagen . After his three seasons in Germany, he was briefly active in Joensuu , Finland . In terms of playing style, Terwilliger is more like a forward type . In the 2009/10 BBL season , more than 40% of his throwing attempts were from behind the three-point line , which he was able to sink with 40% accuracy, which corresponds to a good rate for this type of throwing attempt.

Career

Terwilliger's career began with his university team, the Ohio State Buckeyes , where he acted as the backup center for the first draft pick of the 2007 NBA draft Greg Oden . In his first foreign station he played two seasons for the Paderborn Baskets in the BBL . In his first season as a supplementary player, the team reached the play-offs for the German championship for the first time in its history . At the financially troubled club, Terwilliger remained the only player besides young German players who also started for the Baskets in the following season. For the first time as a starter, which he had not been in college either, and with almost three times as much playing time as in the previous season, Terwilliger could not prevent the relegation of the East Westphalia. After the relegation of the Paderborn Baskets in 2010, he joined Phoenix Hagen for the 2010/2011 season , who, as a climber in the previous season, was able to avoid relegation and placed himself in front of the Baskets. After a season he left the club and moved to the Kataja Basket Club in Joensuu, Finland . However, the club did not extend the trial contract after three championship games.
