Matt Walst (born December 28, 1983 in Asphodel-Norwood ) is a Canadian singer and songwriter . He is best known as the front man of the bands Three Days Grace and My Darkest Days .

Life

In 2005 he founded the band My Darkest Days in Ontario with Reid Henry as guitarist, Brandon McMillan as bassist and Doug Oliver as drummer. The band had great influences from bands like Nickelback , Metallica and Pearl Jam . They signed a recording deal with 604 Records owned by Nickelback front man Chad Kroeger . He also supported her in her work for her first album My Darkest Days . He got a vocal on the song Porn Star Dancing , which also Zakk Wylde and at a hip-hop - Remix Ludacris appeared as guests. With My Darkest Days he released the second album Sick and Twisted Affair in 2012 with the single Casual Sex .

In 2013, Matt Walst was initially appointed interim singer for the Three Days Grace tour after their actual frontman Adam Gontier left the band for personal reasons. His half-brother Brad Walst is the bass player and band leader for Three Days Grace. Matt Walst had already written two songs for his half-brother's band on the debut album Three Days Grace . In 2014 it was announced that Matt Walst is a permanent member of Three Days Grace. Only 3 days later her first single appeared under the new singer. This was called Painkiller . The second single that came out was called I Am Machine . The corresponding album Human was released on March 27, 2015 . In 2018, Outsider was the second album with him as a singer.
