Matt and Jenny is a William Davidson (screenplay) and Joseph L. Scanlan (director) adventure series set in mid-19th century Canada .

Two children from England , Matt and Jenny Tanner, leave Bristol with their mother on a trip to the New World . Her mother died of typhus during the crossing . In Canada the search for the children's uncle, Bill Tanner, begins, who got here before they did. The two orphans get support from well-traveled Adam Cardston and the young trapper Kit on their arduous search.

The interior recordings took place in Toronto International Studios, at the time the largest studio site in Canada, on the outskirts of Kleinburg, Ontario , north of Toronto .
The French-language dubbing was broadcast in 1986 under the title Les routes de l'amitié on Ontario's then new francophone education service La Chaîne française .
