Matthias Flohr (born March 29, 1982 in Aachen ) is a former German handball player . The 1.87 m long Flohr played in the left wing position , occasionally also in the middle circle . On the defensive, he was considered strong in duels and versatile.
Career
Flohr began playing handball in his hometown of Aachen at BTB Aachen and the Aachen TG . Then he moved to Ahlener SG . From 2004 Matthias Flohr was a member of the HSV Hamburg team . He played 24 junior internationals for Germany. In 2009 he was appointed to the national team and played his first international match on December 2, 2009. After HSV Hamburg filed for bankruptcy in January 2016, he joined the Danish first division club Skjern Håndbold . From summer 2016 he was under contract with the German club HBW Balingen-Weilstetten . After the 2018/19 season, Flohr ended his career and took over as assistant coach at HBW.

Flohr has been married to Andrea since December 22, 2009. Since 2004 he has been studying mathematics and sports for teaching at the University of Hamburg .
