Matthias Forster (born April 26, 1985 in Bobingen ) is a German ice hockey player who was last under contract with ERC Sonthofen in the ice hockey league from July to October 2017 .
Career
Forster began his career in 1990 with the youngsters at ESV Königsbrunn , where he ran through the teams of youngsters, youngsters , boys and pupils under coach Herbert Bertele. In 2000 Forster switched to the young eagles Mannheim, with whom he was active in the DNL . After three seasons and three German junior championships, in which he was able to achieve 187 points scorer in 114 games, he joined the Eisbären Berlin from the DEL in summer 2003 . Those responsible in Berlin used the left-handed shooter mainly for the Eisbären Juniors Berlin in the regional league or in the upper league . Nevertheless, Forster completed a total of 30 DEL games.
At the end of the 2004/05 season he signed a contract with the Hamburg Freezers , where he ended the current season. His contract, which expired in the summer of 2006, was not renewed. Therefore he moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for REV Bremerhaven . The then 21-year-old performed well there and attracted the interest of Bremerhaven's cooperation partner, the Hannover Scorpions , who appointed him to their squad during the 2007/08 season . Forster was not used there, however. After another season in Bremerhaven , those responsible for the Schwenninger Wild Wings were able to convince him of a commitment in Schwenningen at the end of April 2009 . Forster received a one-year contract. In 2013 he was hired by the ice pirates Crimmitschau from the DEL2 . From 2015 to 2017 he played for the Heilbronner Falken before moving to the ERC Sonthofen in the ice hockey league in 2017 . There he began an apprenticeship parallel to ice hockey. In October 2017, ERC Sonthofen and the striker agreed to terminate the contract due to the double burden of top division game operations and training as well as the parallel training.
International
Forster was nominated for the first time in 2003 for the German junior national team , with which he took part in the U-18 B World Cup in Latvia in the same year . There he reached second place with the German team in Group A behind Denmark and thus missed promotion to the A World Cup. The offensive player was used in three games and did not score a scorer point.
