Matthias Heckenberger (born November 9, 1982 in Erding ) is a German football player .

Career

Heckenberger started as a striker at TSV Graefelfing, then moved to the youth department of TSV 1860 Munich and later made his first steps in senior football as a midfielder with Bayern league club FC Ismaning . In the 2002/03 season he was third in the table with the club, Heckenberger contributed with eleven goals. He then moved to league rivals SpVgg Bayreuth , with whom he was promoted to the Regionalliga Süd as champions at the end of the 2004/05 season. After a good tenth place , the club was refused the license for the 2006/07 season by the DFB. Heckenberger then joined the Karlsruher SC II , returned for one season to SpVgg Bayreuth and moved to 1. FC Nürnberg II in January 2009 . For the 2011/12 season he signed a contract with third division club SV Darmstadt 98 , where he played his first third division game on August 2, 2011. At the end of the season he left the club again. After not having been under contract with any club for half a year, he moved to northern Germany during the winter break of the 2012/13 season to the relegation-threatened league club FC Anker Wismar . In 10 games that he completed up to a broken collarbone for the Mecklenburg, he could not prevent relegation. During the 2013/14 season he returned to Bayreuth. After one and a half years in the Wagner city, he gave two one-year guest appearances at SpVgg SV Weiden and 1. SC Feucht . During the winter break of the 2017/2018 season, Heckenberger took up the post of playing assistant coach at ASV Pegnitz in the regional league Middle Franconia North.
