Matthias Horbelt

Matthias Horbelt (born June 24, 1968 in Schweinfurt ) is a German actor and filmmaker. Before that he was the singer and guitarist of the punk band Torso .

Live and act

Matthias Horbelt dropped out of school at the Hans Grüninger Gymnasium in Markgröningen at the age of 17 . He founded the punk band Torso in which he acted as singer and guitarist. At the same time, he completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter, which he completed with a journeyman's certificate. Later he made up his Abitur at the Technical High School in Stuttgart.

In 1993 he broke up the band for lack of perspective and in the same year began studying drama at the Rostock University of Music and Theater, which he graduated with a diploma in 1997.

From the Schauspielhaus Kiel to the Landesbühne Hannover and the Städtebundtheater Hof, he was then engaged on various stages. He embodied roles such as Shakespeare's Othello, Cheech in Bullets over Broadway and the Duke of Alba in Schiller's Don Carlos . From 2009 to 2018 she was on numerous tours with the piece Endlich frei - the Nelson Mandela Story , which was nominated several times for the Inthega Prize.
