Matthias Kreuels

Matthias Kreuels (* 1952 in Neuss ) is a German church music director and composer .

biography

Matthias Kreuels studied school music , instrumental pedagogy , piano and church music in Cologne . He then worked from 1978 to 1987 as a church musician at St. Dionysius in Krefeld .

In 1987 Matthias Kreuels became the diocesan church music director and head of the office for church music of the Archdiocese of Freiburg . From November 2000, until its closure in 2007, he was the rector of the Catholic University for Church Music St. Gregorius in Aachen .

In addition to his full-time job, Matthias Kreuels was chairman of the "Conference of Directors of Catholic Church Music Training Centers in Germany" from 1992 to 2004.

In 2004 he published the “Freiburg Choir Book”, one of the most successful choir books in Germany.

From February 2006 to September 2015 he was head of the church music department at the German Liturgical Institute in Trier .

Since 2006 he has also been a consultant for musical education at the St. Lambert interdiocesan seminary in Grafschaft (Rhineland) .
