Matthias Kunkler

Matthias Kunkler (born December 4, 1957 in Borken (Westphalia), † February 27, 1997 in Düsseldorf ) was a German painter. He was the son of the visual artist Hermann Kunkler .

Life

Kunkler studied from 1979 to 1985 free painting with Raimund Girke at the University of Arts in Berlin . From 1984 until his death he lived and worked in Düsseldorf . He was a scholarship holder of the Society for the Promotion of Westphalian Cultural Work , the Günther Peill Foundation , the Atelierhaus Worpswede and the Morgner Scholarship of the City of Soest.

The main material in his works are a large number of different types of paper , which he painted in different techniques and processed into collages . He created relief objects as well as hanging and standing sculptures from linen cloths soaked in acrylic . During his lifetime he literally created color spaces, of which the color / space body in Villa Zanders (Bergisch Gladbach) bears witness.
