Matthias Mayr (born May 16, 1981 in Vienna ) is an Austrian freeride professional and sports scientist .

Life

Matthias Mayr spent the first 18 years of his life mainly in Lower Austria and Vienna . After Salzburg friend Sandra scrapers and his passion led him to freeskiing . In 2006 Matthias Mayr started a scientific study of freeriders. As part of his dissertation, he determined the adrenaline levels in the blood of freeride professionals, including himself. The results showed measurements with such high values ​​as in no other high-risk sport. In February 2008, Matthias Mayr and Styrian top freerider Andreas Kocher made the second ascent (first ascent by Dylan Crossman) of the Greimuth channel on the Loser with alpine skis. In the summer, he and his friends Matthias Haunholder and Lothar Hofer rode one of the most active volcanoes in the world, the Villarrica in Chile . In the winter of 2010 he shot the film Up and Down together with freeski professionals Matthias Haunholder , Sascha Schmid, Sara Orrensjö and ski base jumper Matthias Giraud . In winter 2011 he produced A History of Snow together with Matthias Haunholder . Other athletes included are Pia Widmesser, Sandra Lahnsteiner, Roman Kuss and Ueli Kestenholz

The films Another Day in Paradise, Far Away, The List were made between 2011 and 2014.

In 2015, Matthias Mayr and Matthias Haunholder decided to do more than just freeskiing. This resulted in the adventure documentary Onekotan The Lost Island .

The White Maze was created in 2016 and has won 11 international film awards so far. They were the first people to ski Gora Pobeda .
