Matthias Zera

Matthias Zera , born as Maciej Zera , (* 1987 in Gdansk , Pomeranian Voivodeship ) is a German - Polish actor .

Life

Zera, who came to Germany with his parents at the age of one, grew up in Dortmund . His mother tongues are German and Polish . His father is a set designer . When he was six, he first had the desire to become an actor when he saw the film Time of Awakening with Robert De Niro . He gained his first acting experience in the 2006/07 season at the Dortmund Children's and Youth Theater at the Dortmund Theater . As a teenager he played a. a. already the Urfaust and later did his community service at the Dortmund Theater . He completed his acting studies from 2008 to 2012 at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich ; he graduated there in July 2012. During his studies he played beginner roles at the Bavarian State Theater in Munich and made guest appearances in several university productions at the Münchner Kammerspiele .

In the 2011/12 season he had a guest engagement at Theater Augsburg as Schufterle in Die Räuber . In 2012 he appeared for the first time as a guest at the Theaterhaus Jena . He has been part of the permanent ensemble there since the 2013/14 season. At the theater in Jena he played a. a. the title role in Der kleine Wassermann (2013/14 season), Casimir in Kasimir and Karoline (2015), Laertes / Güldenstern in Hamlet (2015/16 season), Travis in Taxi Driver (2016), Macduff in Macbeth (2016) and Algernon in Bunbury (season 2016/17).

In 2012 and 2013 he performed at the Jagsthausen Castle Festival . There he embodied Georg / Franz in Götz von Berlichingen (2012/2013), Billy Bibbit in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (2012) and the title role in Amadeus (2013).

In September 2017 he was seen in the leading male role in the ARD television film Wedding in Rome ; he played the young German architect Max Hauser, who fell in love with a noble Italian. In the British- German crime series The Mallorca Files , which has been broadcasting since November 2019, Zera took on one of the leading roles in the episode as avant-garde artist Otto Caligari.

Zera has residences in Wuppertal and Berlin .
