Sand road on the way from Maputo to Ponta do Ouro

Although the Matutuíne district borders on two states and the economically and touristically important place Ponta do Ouro is located in the area, the traffic routes have not yet been developed. As part of the construction of the bridge between Catembe and Maputo , the sand road between Ponta do Ouro and Catembe is to be paved and the travel time is to be reduced from four to around one hour. The connection to the border crossing between Kosi Bay and South Africa consists only of sandy roads .

There is an airfield for small aircraft in Ponta do Ouro.
