Maurice Marie-Sainte

Maurice Rigobert Marie-Sainte (born January 4, 1928 in Fort-de-France , Martinique ; † August 27, 2017 in Sainte-Anne , Martinique) was a French clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Saint-Pierre and Fort-de- France .

Life

Maurice Marie-Sainte was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Saint-Pierre et Fort-de-France on December 21, 1955 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on December 19, 1968 titular bishop of Sicilibba and auxiliary bishop in Saint-Pierre and Fort-de-France. The episcopal ordination donated him the Archbishop of Saint-Pierre et Fort-de-France, Henri Varin de la Brunelière CSSp , on October 12, 1969; Co - consecrators were Charles-Marie-Joseph-Henri de Provenchères , Archbishop of Aix , and Patrick Webster OSB , Auxiliary Bishop at Saint George's in Grenada .

On July 4, 1972, he was appointed Archbishop of Saint-Pierre et Fort-de-France. On January 8, 2004, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation due to reasons of age.
