Maurice Norman Richlin (* 23. February 1920 in Omaha , Nebraska ; † 13. November 1990 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American screenwriter who for the screenplay for Pillow Talk 1960 the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay was awarded.

Richlin began working as a screenwriter in the production of television series in the 1950s .

Michael Gordon's screenplay for Bettgeflüster (1959) won him an Oscar for best original screenplay along with Russell Rouse , Clarence Greene and Stanley Shapiro, and Stanley Shapiro was also nominated for the Writers Guild of America (WGA Award) for the best written comedy in 1960.

He was also nominated for an Oscar in the category of best original screenplay in 1960 for the screenplay for Petticoat (1959) by Blake Edwards, together with Paul King , Joseph Stone and Stanley Shapiro, and with Shapiro for the WGA Award for the best written comedy.

For the screenplay written by him and director Blake Edwards for The Pink Panther (1963) both were nominated in 1965 for the Prize of the Writers Guild of America (WGA Award) for the best written comedy. Other films based on his scripts or narratives include Everything in One Night (1961) by Joseph Anthony , What did you do in the war, Daddy? (1966) by Blake Edwards and The Naked Facts (1967) by Alexander Mackendrick , before returning to television productions in the 1970s .
