Mauricio Rosencof
Mauricio Rosencof (born June 30, 1933 in Florida , Uruguay ) is a contemporary writer and playwright from Uruguay, whose works focus on social and political issues. Because of his membership in the Tupamaros guerrilla movement , he was imprisoned from 1972 to 1985.
Life
Mauricio Rosencofs was born in 1933 in the Uruguayan city of Florida as the son of Polish - Jewish emigrants . The origins of his parents influenced his later political stance as well as his interest in social and political issues. In addition to his professional work as a journalist , he wrote stage works that were mainly performed in independent theaters . In the 1960s he was one of the founders and later one of the leaders of the Tupamaros guerrilla movement , which is why he was imprisoned from 1972 to 1985. After his release, he worked again as a writer.
Act
Mauricio Rosencof's works, some of which have also appeared in German , English , French , Dutch and Turkish translations or were performed in Latin America and Europe , include novellas , poems and plays as well as screenplays for cinema and television films . The denunciation of social injustice is characteristic of his work.
