Mauro Morelli (born September 17, 1935 in Avanhandava ) is a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic former bishop of Duque de Caxias .

Life

Mauro Morelli was ordained deacon on June 3, 1964 and received on 28 April 1965, the priestly ordination .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on December 12, 1974 auxiliary bishop in São Paulo and titular bishop of Vatarba . The Archbishop of São Paulo, Paulo Evaristo Cardinal Arns OFM , donated him episcopal ordination on January 25 of the next year ; Co - consecrators were Benedito de Ulhôa Vieira , auxiliary bishop in São Paulo, and José Thurler , auxiliary bishop in São Paulo.

On May 25, 1981 he was appointed first bishop of the newly established diocese of Duque de Caxias . Morelli worked hard to fight hunger and poverty.

On March 30, 2005, Pope John Paul II accepted his early resignation. Morelli submitted this in order to be able to devote more time to social projects.
