José Thurler

José Thurler (born June 19, 1913 in Nova Friburgo , State of Rio de Janeiro , Brazil , † April 23, 1992 ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in São Paulo .

Life

José Thurler received on 4 April 1942, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On February 12, 1959, Pope John XXIII appointed him . to the first bishop of Chapecó . The apostolic nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Armando Lombardi , donated him episcopal ordination on April 5 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Palmas , Carlos Eduardo de Sabóia Bandeira Melo OFM , and the auxiliary bishop in São Paulo, Vicente Angelo José Marchetti Zioni .

On March 22, 1962, John XXIII appointed him. to titular bishop of Capitolias and coadjutor bishop of Sorocaba . Thurler resigned as Coadjutor Bishop of Sorocaba on March 22, 1965. In 1966 Pope Paul VI appointed him . as auxiliary bishop in São Paulo.

José Thurler attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
