Carlos Eduardo de Sabóia Bandeira Melo OFMCap (born July 1, 1902 in Petrópolis , Rio de Janeiro , Brazil , † February 7, 1969 ) was a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Palmas .

Life

Carlos Eduardo de Sabóia Bandeira Melo joined the Congregation of the Franciscan at and received on 4 January 1925, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on December 13, 1947 titular bishop of Girba and first prelate of the territorial prelature of Palma, established in 1933 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Carlo Chiarlo , donated him episcopal ordination on March 14 of the following year ; Co- consecrators were Inocêncio Engelke OFM, Bishop of Campanha , and Antônio Reis , Bishop of Santa Maria .

After the territorial prelature had been elevated to the status of a diocese, he was appointed its first diocesan bishop on April 11, 1958.

He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.
