Wilson Laus Schmidt

Wilson Laus Schmidt (born May 13, 1916 in Florianópolis , Santa Catarina , Brazil ; † May 7, 1982 ) was Bishop of Chapecó .

Life

Wilson Laus Schmidt received on 31 December 1939, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On September 5, 1957, Pope Pius XII appointed him . as titular bishop of Rhaedestus and auxiliary bishop in Rio de Janeiro . The Archbishop of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro, Cardinal Jaime de Barros Câmara , donated him episcopal ordination on December 8 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Florianópolis , Joaquim Domingues de Oliveira , and the Coadjutor Archbishop in Florianópolis, Félix César da Cunha Vasconcellos OFM .

On May 18, 1962, Pope John XXIII appointed him . to the Bishop of Chapecó. Pope Paul VI accepted on January 22, 1968 the resignation put forward by Wilson Laus Schmidt and appointed him titular bishop of Synnada in Mauretania . On March 16, 1971, Schmidt renounced the titular Synnada in Mauretania.

Wilson Laus Schmidt participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
