Mavi Bisiklet is a youth drama from director Ümit Köreken . The German-Turkish co-production is based on a script that the director wrote together with Nursen Çetin Köreken. The film premiered in the Generation Competition of the Berlin International Film Festival and shows how a twelve-year-old boy in the Turkish provinces fights for justice with the means available to him.

action

The twelve-year-old schoolboy Ali lives with his mother and sister in a small Turkish town. After his father's accidental death, the boy has to help support his mother financially and works in a car repair shop next to school. He keeps the tip that he receives every now and then for his big dream: a blue bicycle. But his dream is shaken after his secret love loses her position as head girl to a boy from a wealthy family. Together with his best friend, Ali starts a campaign against this injustice. And the money he actually put aside for his bike is used to point out the injustice to the residents of the small town.

production

The film was sponsored by Eurimages and was shot entirely on location in the Turkish province.
