Max Busch

Max (Gustav Reinhold) Busch (born August 16, 1865 in Hochneukirch , † August 28, 1941 in Erlangen ) was a German chemist and university professor.

Life

With a thesis on Carl Paal Busch 1899 at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen Dr. phil. PhD. From 1897 Busch was professor of chemistry in Erlangen . He was director of the laboratory for applied chemistry at the university and (as a member of the Association of German Food Chemists ) director of the Royal Research Institute for Food and Beverage . Immediately after the First World War , on November 4, 1918, he became the last prorector of the Kgl. Elected Bavarian Friedrich-Alexander University . In the turmoil of the November Revolution, his level-headed personality proved its worth over four semesters. Until October 30, 1920 he successfully mediated between the extreme political interests and positions. His diaries are the most important source for the history of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität in those upheaval years. Busch had been an honorary philistine and corps bow bearer of the free Guestphalia Erlangen since 1898 . A street in Erlangen is named after him.
