Max Johann Seidel

Max Johann Seidel , fully Johann Baptist Max Gangranelli Seidel (born February 18, 1790 in Innsbruck , † September 3, 1855 in Weimar ) was an Austrian opera singer ( tenorbuffo ), actor, director and librettist.
Life
Seidel played for a long time in wandering companies until he found a job at the Hoftheater Weimar in 1822 , where he mainly appeared in comic roles and soon became the darling of the public. On May 16, 1831, Goethe wrote to him that he should give the Weimar painter Johann Joseph Schmeller “a few hours” for a portrait so that Goethe could “add the portrait to a collection of other people I valued”. The portrait - black and white chalk, heightened with white, on brown paper - came into the possession of the Goethe National Museum after Goethe's death .
Seidel was close friends with Johann Nepomuk Hummel and became his first biographer. His 1837/38 with the support of Hummel's widow Elisabeth Hummel geb. Memories of the composer written by Röckel also describe Hummel's lessons with Mozart and have so far only been published in part.
He was the holder of the gold medal of merit and last lived at Brauhausgasse 99c, where he died on September 3, 1855 of "lung stroke".

Seidel was born with the actress Dorothea Friederike ("Doris") Seidel. Wagner (* 1804 in Bremen ; † 1860 in Weimar) who worked in Weimar from 1823.
