Max Jubisch

Max Alfred Jubisch (born June 16, 1852 in Leipzig , † June 7, 1919 in Kittlitz near Löbau) was a German gardener and non-fiction author.

Life

After completing his apprenticeship, Max Jubisch worked in botanical gardens in Dresden and Leipzig. From April 1872 he was employed at the Royal Pomological Institute Proskau , where he worked as a senior assistant after a two-year course. Then he was head gardener and teacher at the Frisian Horticultural School in Rötha . In 1881 he took over a nursery in Kittlitz, which he had previously managed. He changed this to a berry and fruit plantation.

Jubisch was an honorary member of many gardening and fruit growing associations. In addition to his books, he wrote essays on fruit growing and was considered a specialist in pomology .

He was married to Martha Ernestine (née Meißner), with whom they had five sons and a daughter between 1879 and 1896.
