Max meth

Max Meth (* 1901 in Austria ; † January 3, 1984 in Wyckoff , New Jersey ) was an Austrian-American conductor and music director . He has directed over 25 shows on Broadway including Pal Joey and The Golden Rainbow .

Life

Max Meth came to the United States from Austria as a child and was a self-taught musician . At the age of 17 he got his first job on Broadway as a violinist , his first conducting work on Broadway was Artists and Models in the mid-1920s. Meth was also music director for Ziegfeld Follies , Revenge With Music , Roberta , The Band Wagon , Blondes Preferred, and Judy Garland at the Palace . He conducted until the 1960s, for example The Unsinkable Molly Brown . He also directed his own orchestra , the Meth Symphonette .

He won the Tony Award for Best Conductor twice (1949 and 1952) .
