Maximilian Rauer

Maximilian Rauer (born May 29, 1889 in Teplitz-Schönau , † July 21, 1971 in Berlin ) was a German Catholic theologian and priest .

Life

After attending high schools in Innsbruck , Wilmersdorf and Dresden , he obtained his Abitur at the Kreuzschule . From 1908 to 1912 he studied philosophy, history and Catholic theology at the University of Breslau . In 1912 he received his doctorate and then worked as a pastor in the diocese of Meißen until 1920 . After his habilitation he taught from 1921 as a private lecturer in New Testament exegesis, from 1931 as an associate professor at the University of Breslau. In July 1933 Rauer was briefly arrested, on November 30, 1933 he lost his teaching license. He had to leave Breslau and worked as a pastor in Sommerfeld until 1936, then in Forst until the late 1940s.

In 1947 he was appointed honorary professor at the University of Bonn .
