Max Rauscher (church musician)

Max Rauscher (born January 20, 1860 in Wettstetten , † 1895 in Pförring ) was a Catholic theologian , priest and cathedral music director .

Life

Rauscher's activity can be proven in Aiglsbach . At the beginning of August 1885 he became Kapellmeister at the Regensburg Cathedral and thus head of the Regensburger Domspatzen and succeeded Ignaz Mitterer , who was appointed Cathedral Kapellmeister in Brixen . He also taught the subjects of liturgy and Gregorian chant at the church music school in Regensburg, founded in 1874 (today the University for Catholic Church Music and Music Education ) . In autumn 1891, Rauscher had to give up his post for health reasons.
