Maximilian Stockenhuber

Maximilian Stockenhuber (born September 28, 1921 in Andrichsfurt , † April 25, 1998 in Linz ) was an Austrian sculptor .

From 1938 to 1941 he attended the technical school for wood sculpture in Hallstatt (Scherrer, Pfaffenbichler) and from 1945 to 1950 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna ( Josef Müllner , Herbert Boeckl ). From 1950 he was a freelance artist in St. Magdalena (Linz) .

He was a member of the Upper Austrian Art Association , the Innviertel Artists Guild and the Mühlviertel Artists Guild, as well as the professional association of visual artists in Linz.

Works (selection)

The spectrum of his artistic representation ranges from almost realistic to stormy expressionistic and idiosyncratic abstract forms of expression. Three-dimensional works in stone, wood, metal and ceramics on the one hand and graphics, watercolors as well as wood and linocuts show the diversity of his artistic work.

He created numerous mortar cuts, reliefs, warrior and grave monuments in Linz:

  • 1989 sculpture St. Leopold at the parish church of St. Leopold in Linz
  • Rosette made of figures, which enclose the lettering "Raiffeisen Bildungshaus", as well as the building inscription of the Bildungshaus in St. Magdalena
  • Nixenbrunnen in Linz, Klausenbachstraße, Brunnen Pferdebahnpromenade, Brunnen St. Magdalena Ortsplatz (1975)
  • Listed war memorial in Feldkirchen an der Donau (1964)
  • Main motifs of Anton Bruckner's symphonies in bronze in the musician's room in Ansfelden
