Max Wegner (born March 24, 1989 in Lübbecke ) is a German soccer player . He was most recently under contract with Fortuna Düsseldorf and was there for the second team in the Regionalliga .

Career

Max Wegner played at the East Westphalian FC Lübbecke until he was 16 and at SV Schnathorst in neighboring Hüllhorst , before joining a well-known club in 2005 with Arminia Bielefeld . After two years with Westphalia, he moved to Hannover 96 in the last junior year , where he played in the A-Jugend-Bundesliga North / Northeast.

His first senior year in the U-23 was unsatisfactory and he only played four times in the Regionalliga Nord. In 2009 he moved to league competitor SV Wilhelmshaven , where he was a regular despite serious injuries. In the first year, a torn tendon in his thigh forced him to take an extended winter break. And in the 2010/11 season, a syndesmosis tape rupture cost him most of the second half of the season, but with 13 hits in the remaining 23 games he was the most successful goal scorer of the season in Jade City.

Then the neighbors of SV Werder Bremen became aware of Wegner and signed him in 2011 for their second team in the third division, where he received a contract until June 30, 2013. After a convincing preparation, he was on the starting line-up for the first five games of the season. The following season got off to an even better start for Wegner, as he scored eight goals in the first five league games for the SV Werder Bremen reserve team. After a long break from injury due to meniscus damage, Wegner re-established himself in Werder's U23 team. At the end of the season, the center forward was appointed to the professional squad twice due to injuries to some offensive players. In the 2014/15 season he became champion with the second team and rose again to the third division after successful promotion games with her.

After his contract with Werder Bremen expired, he moved to the second division and third division club FC Erzgebirge Aue in the summer of 2015 . He scored four goals in 30 league games in his first season with the Violets. Due to several serious injuries, Wegner only played three times for FC Erzgebirge in the 2016/17 season. His contract, which expired at the end of the 2017 season, was not extended. In August 2017, Wagner signed a one-year contract with third division Sportfreunde Lotte .

For the 2018/19 season he moved to SV Meppen . For Lower Saxony, he could not score a goal in ten games and was no longer considered after Nick Proschwitz was signed . As a result, Wegner's contract was terminated in January 2019 and he joined the regional division Rot-Weiss Essen . However, he only stayed in Essen until the summer break, before joining league rivals Fortuna Düsseldorf II.
