Started his professional career at Montreal Impact

On February 26, 2013 Tissot received together with Wandrille Lefèvre as a homegrown player a professional contract with the professional team of Montreal Impact after he was able to draw attention to himself in the pre-season training camp . In Major League Soccer he finally made his debut on April 26th that year in the game against the Columbus Crew . During the rest of the 2013 season , he was used in a total of six league games. On September 29, he scored his first goal in a professional league game against Chicago Fire . He was also on the starting line-up in both games against Deportivo Heredia in the CONCACAF Champions League .

In the 2014 season Maxim Tissot was used in 20 games, where he was in the lineup in seven games from the start. He scored a total of two goals this season. In the following 2015 season, Tissot played eleven times for Impact and scored another goal.

On June 28, 2016, Montreal Impact announced that it was parting with Maxim Tissot with immediate effect. The reason given by the franchise was to want to free up the space for a new player. Tissot had played 44 league games (five goals), eight games in the Canadian Championship and nine games in the CONCACAF Champions League . The day later, David Choinière was introduced as the new player, taking Tissot's place.

National team

On November 18, 2014, Tissot was nominated by Canada's national coach Benito Floro for the first time for the Canadian national soccer team for the international match against Panama - inasmuch as it was surprising that Tissot had not been nominated for any of Canada's youth national teams . Although he was in the squad, he was not used in the game. He made his debut for the national team on January 16, 2015 in a friendly against Iceland .
