Maxus was a global network of media agencies with 70 offices in 55 countries. According to the French market research company RECMA , Maxus was among the top 20 largest media agencies in Germany in 2016 with media billings of 258 million .

As part of a structuring process, Maxus merged with the sister agency MEC on January 1, 2018 to form the new Wavemaker agency .

history

As a wholly-owned subsidiary of the British WPP , one of the largest communication service providers with over 100,000 employees worldwide, the company was part of the sub-holding GroupM , in which WPP brought together the four media agencies Mindshare , MediaCom , MEC and Maxus. Taken together, according to information from RECMA, GroupM placed advertising worth the equivalent of around € 7.7 billion in the German mass media in 2016, which corresponds to a share of 43.3% of total advertising expenditure.

The company portfolio comprised the areas of strategy, purchasing, planning and reporting. With regard to the advertising channels, Maxus Communications pursued a so-called 360-degree approach, in which all classic media are served with advertising in TV , print , radio and out of home media and innovative communication channels for customers are served with online media and mobile media . In the TV area, the range of products extended from classic TV to teleshopping, infomercial and IP TV. In addition to advertisements, special cross-media advertising formats and cooperations were offered as advertising media in print. In the online area, in addition to display ads, display performance, SEM , SEO , affiliate marketing , performance optimization and targeting (Reach, Pure, Predictive), the company also offered streaming video control via targ.Ad video. Germany

According to the articles of association, the German Maxus was founded on January 22nd, 1997. It emerged from the company Effective Media founded by the advertising agency JWT . In the meantime operating as Media Insight , the agency became part of the worldwide Maxus network in the summer of 2004. The German office of Maxus Communications GmbH was in Frankfurt am Main until the end of 2008 . In November 2008, with the amendment of the articles of association , it was decided to relocate from Frankfurt to Düsseldorf .

Maxus employed 80 people in Düsseldorf. Christian Leipacher was the managing director.

Austria

In Austria there was also a Maxus office in Vienna , which was founded in 2006 from the Austrian Mindshare.

CEO Maxus Austria was Walter Zinggl.

In Austria, the agency looked after clients such as Fiat, Alfa Romeo , Lancia , S. Oliver , Chrysler, Jeep , Recheis and Hermes .

Switzerland

An office was also set up in Switzerland in January 2009. The headquarters of the Swiss agency Maxus was located in Zurich in the Alt-Wiedikon quarter .
