Maxwell T. Friedman (born March 15, 1996 in New York City , New York ), better known by his ring name Maxwell Jacob Friedman (also short: MJF ), is an American wrestler . He is currently under contract with All Elite Wrestling and appears regularly in their shows.

CBS Sports honored Friedman with the Wrestling Award as Rookie of the Year 2019 . He is considered one of the best heels in today's wrestling business among trade journalists .

Wrestling career

debut

Friedman made his pro wrestling debut on February 13, 2015 at the Create A Pro Wrestling Academy's CAP Create A Pro Wrestling Show . Together with Joe Bronson he was able to defeat Luciano and Vinny Spano in a tag team match . He stepped up as Maxwell Jacob Feinstein .

Combat Zone Wrestling (2015-2018)

While he continued as Maxwell Jacob Feinstein in other promotions , Friedman made his debut on August 19, 2015 under the name Pete Lightning for Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW). At the side of Hous Blazer, he lost a tag team match against Eddy Blackwater and Josh Adams. From August 2016 he also used the name Maxwell Jacob Feinstein at CZW. At Sacrifices on May 13, 2017, he won the CZW Wired Championship from Johnny Yuma for the first time . He then used the name Maxwell Jacob Friedman at CZW , which he first used on April 30, 2017 at a show by Premiere Wrestling Xperience . He gave the title to Joey Janela on October 14, 2017 at The Wolf Of Wrestling . From this he was allowed to win the title a second time on December 9, 2017 at Cage Of Death 19 . On February 10, 2018, he lost the title at CZW Nineteen to Alex Colon. At Best Of The Best 17 , Friedman won the CZW World Heavyweight Championship from Rickey Shane Page. He held the title until November 9, 2018, when he gave it to Teddy King at PWF Hotdog And A Handshake . Then he left CZW.

Major League Wrestling (2017-2020)

On October 5, 2017, Friedman first appeared for Major League Wrestling (MLW) when he was allowed to defeat Jimmy Yuta in One Shot . He won the MLW Middleweight Championship on July 19, 2018, in a match against Joey Ryan for the vacant title. On December 12, 2018, Friedman had to surrender the title without a fight due to an injury. Together with Richard Holliday and Alexander Hammerstone, Friedman formed the stable The Dynasty . Friedman and Holliday won the MLW World Tag Team Championship from The Hart Foundation (Brian Pillman Jr. and Teddy Hart) on July 6, 2019 . They lost the title on November 2, 2019 at Saturday Night SuperFight to The Von Erichs (Marshall von Erich and Ross von Erich). On January 13, 2020, Friedman announced that he would no longer compete for MLW.

All Elite Wrestling (since 2019)

With his involvement in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Friedman first became known to a larger international audience. During the first press conference of the newly formed promotion on January 7, 2019, Friedman was introduced as part of the raster. He played his AEW debut match on May 25, 2019 at the first AEW event Double or Nothing . There he took part in the 21-Man Casino Battle Royale , the winner of which qualified for the first match for the AEW World Championship . He was eliminated as the last remaining participant by the winner Adam Page . With the feud against Cody that began at Full Gear on November 9, 2019 , Friedman rose to become Main Eventer . On November 20, 2019 at Dynamite Friedman and Adam Page were allowed to win the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal as the two remaining participants. In the Dynamite edition of November 27, 2019, both contested the resulting match for the Dynamite Diamond Ring 2019 , which Friedman was allowed to win.
