Maya Alexandria Hayes (born March 26, 1992 in New York City , New York ) is an American football player .
Career
society
During her studies at the Pennsylvania State University Hayes played 2010-2013 for the local university team of Penn State Nittany Lions and ran parallel to it in the years 2011 and 2012 for the W-League - Franchises New Jersey Rangers and New Jersey Wildcats on. In January 2014 she was signed in the first round of the NWSL's college draft in sixth position by Sky Blue FC and made her debut there on April 12, 2014 against FC Kansas City . Hayes scored her first goal in the NWSL on June 15 of the same year against the Chicago Red Stars .
National team
Hayes played for the United States U-20 national team from 2008 to 2012 and participated with this in the 2010 and 2012 U-20 World Championships . While the USA were defeated by the later finalists Nigeria in the quarter-finals in 2010, they reached the final two years later against the German selection , which was won 1-0. In total, Hayes played 42 games for the United States Under-20s during this period, more than any other player during this period.
