Mayra Yaratzeth Huerta Hernández (born September 14, 1970 in Guadalajara ) is a former Mexican beach volleyball player .

Career

Huerta played her first international tournaments in 1995 and 1996 with Velia Eguiluz Soto . Her best results during this time were two 13th places at the Espinho and Bali Open. In addition, Huerta / Velia competed at the Olympic tournament in Atlanta. There they were eliminated in the preliminary round after losing to the French Prawerman / Lesage and the Indonesian duo Timy / Eta .

In 1997 Huerta formed a new duo with Laura Almaral Palafox . At the first official World Championship in Los Angeles , Huerta / Laura came in 33rd place. On the World Tour, 17th places in 1997 in Osaka , 1998 in Toronto and 1999 in Acapulco were the best results. In 1999 the two Mexicans competed for the second time in a world championship and finished 17th in Marseille .

At the first tournament with her new partner Teresa Galindo Mata , Huerta finished ninth in the Fortaleza Open. In 2001, further top ten results followed in Macau, Osaka and Maoming. At the 2001 World Cup in Klagenfurt , Huerta / Galindo won their group of three in the preliminary round and reached the first main round; there they were subject to their compatriots Gaxiola / García .

In 2003, Huerta played three Grand Slams and three open tournaments with Laura Almaral Palafox. The best result was 17th place in Rhodes . In 2004 Huerta competed again with Galindo Mata. After a 33rd place in Fortaleza, there was place 41 in each of four other Open tournaments.

Huerta is married to the Mexican beach volleyball player Joel Sotelo Villalobos .
