Mayte Alguacil

Mayte Alguacil Gomar (* around 1979 in Madrid ) is a Spanish jazz musician (vocals).

Alguacil began studying music at the age of twelve at the Rodolfo Halffter Conservatory in Móstoles , where she studied the flute . She then continued her flute studies in Barcelona at the Escuela Superior de Música de Catalunya with Júlia Gallego.

In Catalonia her interest in jazz was aroused; after completing her classical flute studies, she studied jazz singing in the same center. After taking lessons from Carme Canela and Ana Finger as well as Joan Monné, Eladio Reinón , Matthew Simon , Agustí Fernández , Mireia Lara, Pep O'Callaghan, Francesc Capella and Lluís Vidal , she graduated in 2011. She also completed masterclasses with David Hoffmann, Dick Oatts , Jerry Bergonzi , Jim Snidero and Chris Cheek . In 2016 she took private lessons with Cheek and Marion Cowings .

For several years, Alguacil was part of a project by trombonist Víctor Correa, with whom she released the album Wind & Song (2012). The album Better Together was created in 2013 with bassist Pau Lligadas . In 2015 she released her album Day by Day ( Fresh Sound New Talent ), on which she accompanied pianist Michael Kanan, bassist Pedro Campos and Jorge Rossy on drums . With the guitarist Jaume Llombart, the double bass player Pedro Campos and the guests Enrique Oliver and Félix Rossy, the album Trav'lin 'Light followed in 2017 on the same label. Her album Christmas Time was also released there .
