Enrique Oliver (musician)

Enrique Oliver (* 1985 in Málaga ) is a Spanish jazz musician ( saxophone , composition ).

Oliver received a musical education since he was eight years old. In 2002 he began to study jazz with Ernesto Aurignac and Arturo Serra while attending seminars from Steve Grossman , David Kikoski , Mark Turner , Peter Bernstein , Jeff Ballard , Aaron Goldberg , George Garzone , Charles Davis and Tootie Heath . In 2007 he traveled to New York, where he received lessons from Bill McHenry and Ethan Iverson .

Oliver made his debut as a leader in 2013 with his debut album Introducing Enrique Oliver Quintet " with his own compositions. He also leads the band Wild Bunch , which has released two albums. In the last ten years Oliver has also performed more than 100 times with his duo Llombart & Oliver has worked as a sideman on over 30 albums, including WiCCA by Jorge Rossy , Voces by Perico Sambeat , Mason by Roger Mas , Uno by Ernesto Aurignac, El Camino by José Carra , Trav'lin 'Light by Mayte Alguacil and Lua Amarela by Joan Chamorro and Rita Payés. He has also performed with Benny Golson , Bill McHenry, Ben Street , Ian Froman , Badal Roy , Peter Bernstein, Masa Kamaguchi , Nat Su , Chris Higgins or Avishai Cohen . He has toured the UK, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Haiti, Morocco and North America.

Oliver is a teacher at the Centro de Arte y Música Moderna ›Maestro Puyana‹ and previously at the Escuela Municipal de Música de Alhaurín de la Torre in Málaga. He is the founder and board member of the Malaga Jazz Association .
