Roger Mas i Solé (born December 9, 1975 in Solsona , Lleida province ) is a Catalan songwriter and singer .

biography

At the age of five he began his music and instrument training with his grandfather, Joan Solé i Costa. At the age of twelve he continued his artistic career as a clarinetist and saxophonist . Since 1994 he has been engaged in various musical forms of expression in the world under the guidance of Luis Paniagua. In 1996 he made his debut as a Catalan singer-songwriter with the Èxit award from the Catalan public radio station Catalunya Ràdio . From then on, ten albums followed, various awards for each of his new releases and widespread recognition from music critics, which made him an important representative of the Catalan singer-songwriter scene.

His music is influenced by three basic themes: modern musical styles, original tones and melodies, and world music . In his lyrics he mixes colloquial expressions with literary elements and expressions that are slowly being forgotten. The music critic Mingus B. Formentor described him in the daily La Vanguardia as "the most beautiful voice among the Catalan songwriters". In recent years, Roger Mas has given concerts in countries such as France , Cuba , Italy , Uruguay , Serbia , the USA , Hungary , Germany , Belgium and Brazil .

He has received twenty music awards and his discography includes the following titles: Les flors del somni (1997), Casafont (1999), En el camí de les serps i els llangardaixos blaus fluorescents cap a la casa de vidre de la Senyora dels Guants Vermells (2001 ), dp (2003), Mística domèstica (2005), Les cançons tel·lúriques (2008), A la casa d'enlloc (2010), Roger Mas i la Cobla Sant Jordi - Ciutat de Barcelona (2012), Irredempt (2015 ) and Parnàs (2018).

In 2013, it was amended by Sardana province federation Lleida the price Rotllana in recognition of the successful fusion of traditional and modern music.

In Germany, Roger Mas last performed in Berlin in March 2017. The event was organized by the Catalan cultural institute Institut Ramon Llull in cooperation with the representation of the Catalan government, the Generalitat de Catalunya , in Germany.
