McAdoo is a borough in Schuylkill County in the state of Pennsylvania in the United States .
geography
The place is 10 kilometers north of Tamaqua and five kilometers south of Hazleton . The closest major town is Wilkes-Barre , which is about 40 kilometers to the north. Near the leads Interstate-81 -Highway the west over.
History
The name of the place was chosen in honor of William Gibbs McAdoo . It was founded in 1896. The textile industry was the main source of livelihood for the first settlers who came from Ireland and Wales . After finding anthracite coal in the area, mine workers also came to the place.
