The Mechesee is a natural body of water in the area of the Lobetal district in the Brandenburg district of Barnim, which belongs to Bernau near Berlin . The small lake is located - surrounded by forest - directly on the northern edge of the village and can be reached from there via an access marked as a private path. There is a circular path around the lake of about one kilometer, which is often used for walks.
General
The water surface of Lake Mechese is 54 meters above sea level . The standing water is fed by springs lying in the lake and rainwater. There is a sandbank in the middle of the lake. The lake is surrounded by a reed belt , which is interrupted in some places, allowing anglers and bathers to access the water. A designated bathing area with a sandy beach is located on the north shore of the lake.
The Mechesee is used as fishing water. Pike , eel , perch , roach and rudd are some of the fish species found in the lake.
Lobetal and the Mechesee are the starting point for hikes in the neighboring nature reserve Biesenthaler Becken and to Hellsee . The Berlin – Usedom long -distance cycle route passes 450 meters east of the lake .
