MediathekView is a program that can search the online media libraries of various public TV channels and list the programs available. In October 2016, the developer announced that he would stop maintaining the program at the end of the year and that the community would take care of it from now on. A team was formed for this within three weeks.
Range of functions
The Java-based software can search media libraries and save films. The program list can be searched for specific programs or keywords using different filters. The films can be viewed and recorded using any external program. Subscriptions can be created and new contributions can be downloaded automatically.

The media libraries are supported by Das Erste , ZDF , Arte , 3sat , SWR , BR , MDR , NDR , WDR , hr , rbb , SR , Radio Bremen TV , Phoenix , KiKA , ZDFtivi , DW , ORF and SRF .
Server-side solutions
With websites like MediathekViewWeb and MediathekDirekt.de, there are interfaces that work in any web browser and make the use of Java superfluous. You use the lists created by MediathekView. MediathekViewWeb also dispenses with downloading film lists to the local client and searches for programs on the server. A local video player is no longer required because the videos can be viewed directly on the website.
MediathekViewWeb and its developers have been part of the MediathekView organization since February 2017.
