The Meierlachgraben is a floodplain ditch connecting the Altmühl in the area of the town of Gunzenhausen in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district in Central Franconia . It drains the shallow, left-hand floodplain of the river near the bank. Opposite, on the right side of the Altmühl, the Naßwiesengraben drains , to the north the Luisengraben , which incorporates the Meierlachgraben .

course

The trench begins at an altitude of 412  m above sea level. NHN southwest of Unterasbach and southeast of Aha and stretches for about 0.7 kilometers in a north-easterly direction parallel to the Altmühl through the wide open landscape of the valley floodplain , more than half the length along farm roads. The water flows southwest of Unterasbach, shortly before it flows into a left branch of the Altmühl, at about 411  m above sea level. NHN from the right into the Luisengraben.

The water has only a slight gradient of about one meter in altitude, as does the Altmühl, which runs roughly parallel, in whose floodplain to the left it is, which is why the water drains off very slowly. At most, it drains a little over 0.2 km²; the watershed of its catchment area is hardly noticeable in the flat valley floor. After heavy rainfall this is flooded by the Altmühl.
