Quarter milestone near Seeburg

The milestone in the west of Seeburg is on the federal highway 80 between Seeburg and Aseleben (municipality of Seegebiet Mansfelder Land ) in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt .

In the years 1824 to 1826 a Prussian Staatschaussee was built between Langenbogen and Nordhausen , which was part of the major project of the road from Berlin to Kassel . In quarter-mile intervals were about her, probably in 1826, milestones erected, of which some have received. The quarter milestone (inscription "1/4 mile") west of Seeburg represents the distance of 24.75 miles to Dönhoffplatz in the state capital Berlin. It was uncovered in 1999 because it had been completely buried by the new road embankment on federal highway 80. He was placed on a pavement pedestal to prevent repetition.

The distance indicator is under monument protection and was entered in the monument register with registration number 094 16109 as a small monument. Here it is listed under Aseleben, as it is probably just in the corridor. The Milestones research group has named it “Seeburg West” because of its close proximity to Seeburg. In the vicinity of the milestone, the former Chaussee (coming from Seeburg) and today's B 80 (coming from Wansleben), often called the "old B 80", reunite after they separated in Bennstedt .
