Aseleben is located on the south bank of the Süßen See approx. 10 km southeast of Eisleben .

The annual precipitation is 466 mm. The rainfall is extremely low. They are in the lower twentieth of the values ​​recorded in Germany. Aseleben is the record holder with the lowest annual amount of precipitation since weather records began in Germany of only 209 mm in 1911. Aseleben was first mentioned in a document as Esilebo in the 9th century .

On January 1, 2010, the previously independent communities Aseleben, Amsdorf , Erdeborn , Hornburg , Lüttchendorf , Neehausen , Röblingen am See , Seeburg , Stedten and Wansleben am See merged to form the single community Seegebiet Mansfelder Land. At the same time the administrative community Seegebiet Mansfelder Land , to which Aseleben belonged, was dissolved.

Economy and Infrastructure

There are large fruit-growing areas in the municipality. In addition to apples, plums and sweet cherries, apricots are also traditionally grown here.

The federal highway 80 , which connects Eisleben and Halle (Saale) , leads directly through the district. The 440 bus of the Südharz transport company , which also stops in Aseleben, runs on it. The nearest train station is Röblingen am See , three kilometers south of Aseleben on the Nordhausen – Halle railway line .
