Village church

Village church

The original Rollsdorf Church dates from the 12th century; it was on the site of today's small cemetery. The village church was demolished around 1903 due to its dilapidation. The bell , the baptismal font and the representations of the evangelists were taken over into the new church.

The new village church is a Gothic quarry stone building with corner connections and window frames made of ashlar , reminiscent of the English architecture of the second half of the 19th century. The church has a rectangular nave with a retracted choir and entrance hall. The equipment comes from the construction period.

The baptismal font with a round dome bears the inscription 1573. In the vestibule there are four parapets with depictions of the evangelists, which are dated 1697.

The construction of the new village church was carried out on unsafe ground, which resulted in cracks in the masonry and the partial subsidence of the church floor. A support association was founded in 2004 to maintain the church.
